Will be update 3rd week of August after my state music teachers meeting

Studio Recitals
I hold 2 recitals each year on the 2nd Saturdays in June and December at the Everett Music Hall. The recital fee is $5 per student which is used to cover the cost of reserving the music hall. The music hall seats around 300 so you are free to invite as many people as you like!

All students’ ages 6-14 are expected to participate in both recitals. Students 15 and up are expected to participate in only one but are encouraged to perform in both. All performing students should have their pieces memorized, dress nicely (no shorts, jeans, holes or sneakers), and arrive 10-15 minutes early.

The recital usually lasts around 40-60 minutes. Afterwards I spend about 10 minutes presenting awards and taking a group picture followed by refreshments in the lobby. The refreshments are provided by the families of performing students. I send around a signup sheet a few weeks before each recital.

Summer Piano Camp
I do not teach weekly lesson during the summer months. Instead I do a camp week on the 2nd week of July and August. You could choose to have lessons both camp weeks, a single camp week, or take the summer off. You must do the entire week. The price is will be $125 per student per week. That equates to $25 per 45min lesson. Lessons must be paid for in full at the first lesson of the camp week.

Each student can choose their focus for the week. We can continue working on flash cards, scales and the lesson book like a normal lesson. They could also work on one challenging piece. You’d be amazed how far you can get in a song with 45 minutes of daily diligent practice! Some students have expressed an interest in composing their own songs. Others students are interested in plowing through the flash cards and theory books to get to the next level faster. Anything they are interested in is an option.
Adjudications
Held annually at Everett 1st Presbyterian Church. Students will perform for an adjudicator which is basically a highly qualified piano instructor. They evaluate each student and give them expert advice on how to improve their playing. They will also evaluate me as a teacher and give me tips on how to improve my teaching based on the weaknesses of my students.

Explore Music
Held annually at Everett Music Hall from 10-12. The fee is $15 per student and will be used to support the scholarship fund

This is a very fun “music camp” type event designed for students ages 4-12. There is a different emphasis each year. Last year was percussion. The students are divided into 3 groups based on age. Then they rotate through 3 events. There is a recital room where they can perform a piece on a concert grand piano. There is a “petting zoo” where they get to handle and play instruments from that year’s theme (last year we did a drum circle). Lastly there is a “game room”. They will play games to help them memorize music terms, sounds and rhythms.

Every age group has varying levels of playing ability. The event is designed to be equally fun and informative no matter what your level is.

Music in Action (MIA)
This is held annually on the 2nd Saturday in May from 8am-3pm at 9509 19th Ave. S.E. Everett which is a local church. The fee is $15 per student. All of the proceeds go to fund the Scholarship program.

Students choose 6 events to enter, and are awarded 1st through 6th place ribbons based on their performances. The categories include Written Theory, Ear Training, Technique (Scales), Rhythms, Duets, Sigh Reading, School Instruments, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, Etudes, Folk Songs, Show/Movie/Pop, Patriotic/Hymns, composition, and an art project.

Each level has a unique schedule which will be released in April. Not all events will be back to back. There will be crafts, face painting and tables provided for you to use in between events. Once you’re child has completed all of their events you are free to go.
